One, they can be planted indoors at any time and if you want to plant outside they only take a few weeks to sprout giving your children a sense of wonderment quickly. So if the kids are bored during the cold months being cooped in side an indoor herb garden is perfect. Choose fragrant smelling herbs or herbs that will spice up your food. Imagine how much fun they will have when they sprinkle fresh basil from their garden on their pizza. To begin an herb garden with your children you will need to get some easy to find basic items. Start small with six pots that have holes in the bottom. Have the kids paint the pots for an additional activity. Next you will need either seeds or already started plants from your nursery center or from the internet. Only a few basic easy to find items are necessary to begin an herb gardening project with your children. The most popular herb plants for children are Lavender, Sage, Mint, Coriander, Basil, Parsley and Oregano. You will need some good potting soil also available at the nursery center. Have on hand some plastic wrap, Popsicle sticks, a marking pen and poster paints if the kids are going to paint the pots. Once you have gathered your supplies it is time to plant. Plant more then a few seeds since some seeds won’t sprout. Water the soil but don’t drown it. Herbs do no like to have “wet feet”. However do not allow them to dry out. With your marking pen, label the Popsicle stick with the name of the herb and insert into the pot. To conserve on moisture cover the pot with plastic wrap. Make sure you uncover them for fresh air every other day so mildew cannot form. Now it is time to find a sunny spot to place your herb garden. Herbs need 4 to 6 hours of sunlight a day. In two to six weeks, depending on the herbs you have chosen, your seeds will begin to germinate. Off with the plastic wrap now that they are ready to grow. The kids will love watching them grow and smelling their fragrances. It’s time to enjoy your herb garden with your children. Once the kids have been successful in this project you may wish to branch out and start growing some other herbs. Go deep and go wide, by this I mean investigate every avenue and every avenue off every avenue etc. Here’s a quick example of how to expand your lists by investigating related avenues. In this example I’ll use mortgage as the base keyword. Mortgage is a very competitive keyword on the Net simply because the commissions are so high. So how do you break into the market without paying over the odds? Create your first list and think of different ways your prospect could interpret mortgage e.g. buy house, bad credit mortgage, best loan, house purchase finance, no status loan, home finance, etc. This really is only slightly removed from the base keyword, you should dig deeper still. Next try expanding into types of mortgage flexible, interest only etc. take these and mix them up with your first list, as you do this youll find avenues of keyword groups present themselves from single keywords e.g. interest only house loan, flexible home finance etc. Avoid the general keywords and dig a little deeper to expand on related terms or, heres a good one, rephrase those terms e.g. turn cheap mortgage around and use mortgage cheap too. Put yourself in your prospects shoes. What would they search for? How would they type it into Google? People don’t always type a search phrase in a logical order. You could create an Ad group focused entirely on mortgage company names take that further still and add a .com to the name or a co.uk or your own country extension e.g. www.somemortgagecompany.com.au It doesnt matter if this domain doesnt exist, people type things like this into a search engine so its possible you can pick up low cost traffic with these keywords. For some quick avenues to explore check out these keyword goldmines Plurals, domain names, serial numbers, product numbers, spelling errors, no spaces between the phrase words e.g. buywidget. Add .com or .net or .info etc, company names, company domain names, domain names and variations e.g. mydomain.com www.mydomain etc. Add superlatives e.g. best, cheap, cheapest, best buy. Competition site names, foreign words, US or UK spelling, product names, typos, hyphens instead of spaces. Be sure to separate out all these keywords in to different lists. You should be setting up different Ad groups for each. It’s important to not just drop them all into one campaign together. Instead place all the typos in one Ad group all the plurals in another and so on. This will make for easietr targeting of your ad writing depending on your Ad groups keywords. It would seem that all you have to do is work out how many calories you need and add up the calories in everything you eat, then make sure that you don’t eat too many. But what sounds so simple in theory is mind-boggling difficult and tedious to do in real life unless you have no social life and constantly eat the same few food items and recipes or live on ready meals. Try finding a decent restaurant which provides the calories on each of its menu items. Or how about insisting that your friend works out the calories in the meal she is cooking for her dinner party. Weighing every food item and calculating the calories in everything you eat takes time. As s a result the tendency is to start estimating weights and calorific values. And surprise, surprise scientific studies have shown that we tend to underestimate the amount of food and the number of calories we are consuming. So you think you are eating fewer calories than you need but you’ll still not lose any weight (or as much as you thought you would). If, unlike most of us, you are quite a detailed person, you might quite like the idea of calorie counting. It might very well work for you, but take care because I have also found that quite a few people, who find the method working, start getting obsessive about food and the calories it contains which is far from the happy, relaxed and healthy approach to eating that you want to adopt. So how do you make weight loss work without calorie counting? 1. Maintain Calorie Awareness Even if you don’t count calories there’s no need to ignore calories altogether. Calories are often a useful indicator for whether a food is worth eating (“700 calories for that chocolate cake - really? - I think I’ll pass”) So it’s useful to give a passing glance to food packaging and to have a general idea of where you can cut back to help in your weight loss efforts. 2. Choose Food Wisely Choose food based on nutrition and health and eat it in modest portions. The calories will even themselves out overall if you do this for the majority of your meals especially if you fill half your plate with salad or vegetables and eat small portions of the more calorie dense protein and carbohydrate foods. 3. Make Some Foods a Rare Event Avoid regularly eating foods which you know are high in calories and which really do nothing for your health. in this category I would put chocolate, candy, fast food, deep fried and breaded foods, cakes, cookies and pastry. There’s no harm in having them occasionally - certainly don’t ban them or you’ll set yourself up for a craving. Simply choose your meals keeping health and nutrition in mind and you’ll be fine. 4.
