Cellulite: Do We Have To Lump It?

By Jon Davis What is cellulite? Ask a doctor and he will probably say there is no such thing: it is just another word for fat. Ask a woman who has it and you will get a very vivid description usually including the words orange peel. Most women over the age of thirty are either worried about getting it, checking their thighs for the first signs of it, or bemoaning the fact that it has already taken hold and that from now on its a case of covering up with that sarong on the beach, so that others need not witness the full horror of it. These are the facts about cellulite from one who knows: 1. It appears to affect only women. 2. It mainly colonises the thigh area. 3. Once it gains a foothold, it will spread across the whole of the upper thighs and possibly onto the buttocks. 4. Exercises which target this area may possibly improve muscle tone, but will not have any effect on cellulite. 5. Losing weight may reduce the amount of fat in the area, but the cellulite will still be there. 6. It is fat, but it is not just fat. It is lumpy, porridge-like fat. Is there any hope? Is it possible to reduce or even eliminate cellulite? Can we avoid getting it in the first place? To answer these questions, we need to know what causes cellulite in the first place. Many people who have studied this question believe that it is caused by a build up of toxins in the body which the lymphatic system is unable to deal with effectively. It is possible that we could either prevent or treat it by consuming less of those foods which tend to cause this build-up of toxins. In other words we need to consume mostly unprocessed, preferably organic, foods, including plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. In order to help the elimination of toxins, we should also be drinking the recommended two litres of water per day. Another remedy which many beauty specialists recommend is body brushing. Using a specially designed brush, you dry brush the skin in the affected area, before showering. This practice is also intended to help with the elimination of toxins, by improving blood circulation. Finally, there are many products which have recently appeared on the market, designed to improve the appearance of cellulite-affected areas by their application onto the skin. They claim to penetrate the skin and draw out impurities, bringing about visual and measurable improvement in the thigh area. Though some of the claims made may be exaggerated, many women who have tried these products have noticed some improvement. Do we have to lump it? I think it depends on how advanced the problem is and on how much time, money and effort you are prepared to devote to it. http://1Cellulite.com Discover what you can do to remove & avoid cellulite Now! Weight Loss Products And Services: Do They Really Work?

By Sharon Kirby The weight loss industry is worth billions. Millions of people worldwide buy into it because they want to lose weight and feel great, yet many of these people are still overweight and feel bad about themselves. It is something of a paradox; weight loss products and services rake in the cash, yet the people who use them are still overweight. This very concept is what keeps them on the shelves. Suppose for example someone has played their latest fitness dvd so many times they are sick of it and decide to go and buy another one; there are so few recipes in their diet books they actually like that they have to add another book to their collection; they are bored silly slugging it out on their running machine every night and so they treat themselves to a rowing machine as well. Before they know it they will have a pile of dvds they never workout to, a pile of books gathering dust and a whole host of fitness gadgets just begging to wing their way to the nearest charity shop. Sound familiar? Diet books, diet foods, diet pills, fitness dvds, slimming magazines, gyms, health clubs, home exercise equipment; the list goes on. Although most do have something of value to offer, and initially they may work, the novelty often wears off sooner or later. Once someone stops doing something, they stop seeing the results. The sales pitch of many weight loss products is that they promise to give results, quickly. Today’s fast-paced lifestyle means many people are easily sold on the idea of ‘instant results’ in return for very little effort. But the reality is they still have to do the work and when they realise this, their momentum goes right out of the window. That’s the thing about weight loss products and services; they only work if people can put in the effort to stick at them, and many people don’t because they either get bored, or they do not have the time. It is a well-known fact that diets are hard to stick to and gym dropout rates are high. The key to weight loss is actually very simple. It’s really just about making lifestyle choices and adopting good habits that will allow us to lead a healthy way of life. In a nutshell we should: eat less convenience foods that are laden with refined sugars and saturated fats, eat more whole foods, fruits and vegetables, chew our food properly, stop eating when we have had enough to eat, drink more water, avoid smoking, watch our alcohol intake and take more exercise. All of these things need to be addressed continually throughout life and not just on a whim. How someone goes about incorporating these healthful behaviours into their life depends on who they are; people are different. What works for one person will not necessarily work for someone else. Lifestyle factors such as work and family commitments need to be taken into consideration. We all have different lifestyles; it is unrealistic for a single mother with three children to have the time or inclination to sweat it out at the gym for an hour every night. However, a person with no family commitments may spend all day looking forward to their evening gym session because they really enjoy it and they are able to stick at it. It is important to be realistic. Every small step someone takes is important, whether it is eating one more piece of fruit a day or getting off the bus one stop early, drinking more water or making a conscious effort to chew their food properly. If they gradually build these things up they will become habits of day-to-day life rather than just short-term fads, and they will see long-term results with seemingly little effort. So, do weight loss products and services work? The answer is yes, but only if they can be incorporated into someone’s lifestyle on a long-term basis, and that will depend on the person not the product. Growinig Water Lilies

By Erin Taylor A garden pool filled with water lilies is a spectacular sight. With elegant flowers that open their blooms each morning to greet the sun, and then closing again in the evening, they are exquisitely beautiful. Although many gardeners are nervous to try growing these beautiful water plants, the European varieties are extremely hardy and very easy to grow. Tropical water lilies require a warm climate to grow, preferring a sunny position, and flowering all year round. These varieties produce large scented flowers on tall stems in colors ranging from white, cream, pink, apricot, rich cyclamen, yellow and many shades of blue through to purple. The hardy European varieties grow and flower in all climates. A sunny position is best for these plants, but in extremely hot climates some dappled shade is recommended. Once established, they produce flowers over a long periods, with colors ranging from white through pink, red, apricot, and the yellow spectrum. Sizes vary, from the exquisite miniatures, to those with extra large leaves and flowers. Water lilies should be planted in a soil mixture of three parts loam, to one part well rotted cow manure, blood and bone, bone meal, or slow release fertilizer pellets, mixed through the bottom layer of soil. Larger varieties do well planted into squat pots about 20-25cm in diameter. Make a few extra holes low down on the sides of the pot, because water lilies do best when their roots are not contained. In very large ponds or converted swimming pools, plant two or three different varieties in larger pots to create an impressive display. With the exception of the miniature varieties that should be planted with 10-18cms water above the pots, water lilies should be planted at depths of 20-40cms. Soak the soil in the pots very well before placing into the water, and cover the top of the pots with a good layer of stones. This will help stop the potting soil washing out of the pots. The stems and leaves will find their own way to the surface. Plants grown in smaller pots will need to be divided every two or three years. Fish are an important part of a ponds lifecycle as are oxygenating plants. If you like Koi Carp, do not place them in a pond with tropical water lily plants as the Koi will eat them. Koi will leave the hardy varieties alone, especially if the fish are no longer than eight to 10cm. Aggregate stones around the plants will prevent the fish from uprooting them. You can also grow water lilies in deep half barrels or tubs lined with a heavy plastic. Its important to ensure that the pots remain submerged all the time, as water lilies must never be allowed to dry out. Anime, the Japanese Comic Sub-Culture!

By Dave Gieber What is anime? For all intents and purposes, this is a style of cartoon animation that has its beginnings in Japan. This particular genre has a distinctive character and aesthetics background that visually sets itself apart from other forms of animation. While some anime is entirely hand-drawn, computer assisted animation techniques appear to be quite common. Story lines are typically fictional. Examples can be found in most major genres of fiction. Story lines can be found on television, distributed on media such as DVDs, or included in console and computer games. Anime has been influenced by Japanese comics known as manga. The English word “anime” is a transliteration of the abbreviated version of this Japanese term. It appears there are two accepted ways of pronouncing this word. It can be pronounced as “ANN ih may” or many may also verbalize it as “AH nee may”. The history of anime got its start at the beginning of the 20th century. Japanese filmmakers started experimenting with the animation techniques that were being explored in the West. During the 1970s, further development was seen as the genre was separating itself from its Western roots. Unique genres such as mecha were coming into being. In the 1980s, anime became widely accepted in the mainstream in Japan and therefore, experienced a boom in production. The 1990s and 2000s saw an increased acceptance of this form of expression in overseas markets. At one time, the genre was also known as Japanimation, but this term has fallen into disuse. More usage of this term was seen during the 1970s and 1980s. This was the time period, which saw the first and second waves of anime fandom. In more recent years, anime has been referred to in Europe as manga. This practice may have stemmed from the Japanese usage: In Japan, manga can refer to both animation and comics (although the use of manga to refer to animation is mostly restricted to non-fans). Among English speakers, manga usually has the stricter meaning of “Japanese comics”. Dave Gieber is the owner and editor of a website built around one of his childhood passions. Cardio for Weight Loss- The Wrong Way

By Craig Ballantyne You are doing the wrong cardio workout. The weight loss cardio program you are using is wrong, wrong, wrong! Slow, boring cardio is not best for fat loss. Recent research from Australia has shown that intervals works better than cardio. The female subjects did 3 workouts per week. Group 1 did intervals for 20 minutes. Group 2 did cardio for 40 minutes. The subjects in Group 1 lost more weight! So don’t rely on cardio for weight loss. But a lot of people are doing intervals wrong as well. Here are two ways that people do intervals wrong and that end up reducing the effectiveness of their workouts. 1) Don’t do them at the start of the workout. Unless you want to wipe yourself out and make your strength training less than optimal, don’t start your workouts with the intervals. You’ll get more results by doing your intervals at the end of the workout. 2) Don’t alternate between a strength training exercise and an interval. If you do this, your strength work will suffer. Want to get 20% weaker in your lifts? Then just try to lift something after you have sprinted for 30-60 seconds. I guarantee you’ll be a lot weaker if you do that…but that’s the exact opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve with strength and interval training. We want to be fresh and strong for our strength training exercises, and then finish the workout with energy-depleting, turbulence-promoting interval training. Again, the bottom line: You’ll get more results by doing your intervals at the end of the workout. I strongly believe it is best to separate the two methods…otherwise, the intervals knock the strength out of your “sails” so to speak, so that the results are not optimal. Focus on the quality of training, not just on sweating up a storm. Consistency is king, but you also have to follow a perfectly-structured plan, CB You have permission to publish this article in your web sites, ezines or electronic publication, as long as the piece is used in its entirety including the resource box, all hyperlinks (HTML clickable) and references and copyright info. A Quick, Easy And Low-Cost Way To Increase Your Credibility In The Marketplace

By Habiba Abubakar Have you heard of the know-like-trust factor? It’s the ONLY reason why prospects convert to clients! Prospects who come across your products and services for the first time will only buy from you when they get to know you, like you and trust you. This therefore means that amongst other things, you have to build CREDIBILITY in the marketplace. But how do you do that without breaking the bank? The easiest and most profitable way to fast track your credibility in the minds of your prospects and clients, is by implementing joint venture marketing in your small business. This involves joining forces with a reputable business e.g. a key player in your industry (your joint venture partner), so that you can piggyback on their credibility and shine in their glow. How will that be of benefit to your business? Your joint venture partner would have probably spent years building a good reputation within their industry. They therefore have influence and credibility with their clients. By partnering with them, youll be tapping into this resource. You’ll enhance your credibility and reputation as a direct result of associating with a respectable joint venture partner. This will subsequently magnetize more clients, more sales, and more profits to your business! Why would another business be interested in partnering with your business? Because joint venture marketing is about combining business resources like credibility, time, capital, expertise, skills, and so on, to create a win-win situation that will benefit the businesses involved, and benefit their clients at the same time. Talk show host, Dr. Phil, was a virtually unknown psychiatrist before Oprah Winfrey introduced him to the world. He gained credibility as a result of Oprah’s influence. The case study section of this article explains why a world-renowned mogul like Oprah Winfrey would partner with an unknown psychiatrist. How do you know whether a potential joint venture partner is respectable? * Find out what the media, and their prospects and clients think about them * Examine their business ethics * Review and ensure that their products and services are of high quality * Evaluate their customer service standards It’s imperative to ensure that your potential joint venture partners are reputable. Associating with a business that has a bad reputation will hurt your own business, and that defeats the purpose of increasing your credibility. Here’s A Case Study… Oprah Winfrey knows what her audience wants to watch, and therefore created a strategic alliance with Dr. Phil, a psychiatrist who was a virtually unknown doctor before appearing on Oprah’s show, and had never been on television. He started doing guest appearances on her show and his tell it like it is style was very popular with Oprahs audience. Over time, the audience wanted to see more and more of Dr. Phil. Eventually, Oprah offered to produce a show for Dr. Phil, and he began a daily afternoon talk show of his own. Dr. Phil has benefited from this alliance by gaining exposure and CREDIBILITY through Oprahs influence. Oprah has benefited by adding another program to her empire, and getting a percentage of the profits from that show. And, the television audience enjoys getting a program that offers free advice and real-life case studies that affect their lives. They would otherwise have to pay thousands of $$$ for private sessions with Dr. Phil. This case study illustrates what I call a win-win-win situation that can only be provided through the power of joint venture marketing. Copyright 2005 by Habiba Abubakar and Emprez. Romantic Tips - Keeping Romance Alive

By Brandi Simon Youve been in a relationship for quite some time and you notice that the romance that was so abundant in the early days is fading fast. You know that youve got to act fast because your relationship is heading for disaster. What can you do to bring back that romantic flare? It all starts with one simple step! Start putting your partner first in all things that you do. This is one of the most romantic things that you can do for your partner. Examples: 1. Your partner is sick and has decided to take the day off from work to rest and heal. You surprise him/her and stay home to care for them, tending to their every need. When my husband did this for me just a couple of weeks ago, I was so appreciative and it is something that I will never forget. 2. You meet someone at work that you really like. Think what your partner would think about this person. While it is okay to have friends that our partners do not like, it is always better to consider your partners feelings before you jump into a friendship with someone else, since our partner is our closest friend. Consider why your partner wouldnt like this person or why he/she would. When its all said and done, thinking of your partners feelings before you do or say anything is one of the most romantic things you can do. After all, romance is at its very nature showing a person that you love them and what can say it more than putting them first in all things you do. Is Food Your Substance?

By Ada Gimlan Most of us are aware of alcohol, drugs and gambling as mood altering devices, but what about food? Since food is an essential part of living, it is very hard to distinguish it from other addictions. We can not eliminate it completely like we do other substances or activities. How do you know when you have crossed the line from eating for health and enjoyment to eating as a salve to life? Some questions to ask yourself are: Do I enjoy what I am eating? Can I stop eating it after I have had a reasonable amount? Is my reasonable amount the same as what other people would consider a reasonable amount? Do I continue to eat even though I am full (and its not Thanksgiving)? Do I eat because I am bored, stressed, anxious, angry, frustrated, happy etc.? Do I know how to celebrate without eating? Do I use food as a reward; do I believe I deserve the treat? Do I think about food or my weight most of the day? If my favorite foods are in front of me, do I obsess about having one more? Do I eat the entire package until there is nothing left and do I feel disappointed when its gone? Do I make midnight emergency trips to the store to get my favorite stuff? Do I feel guilty after I eat? Do I worry if my clothes will fit tomorrow morning? Do I promise to start a diet tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes? Do I plan my last great binge before starting the next diet? Since we have to eat to live, it is very difficult to distinguish when food has crossed the line from being necessary to being abused. If food and weight are causing you anguish, you are probably trying to have food solve issues for you that food is not capable of solving. So whats the answer? Or better yet, whats the question? Do you tell yourself, if I were thin then I would have? or I would be able to .? The question is, why are you eating more than you need? If you didnt eat the extra food, what would you be doing? How would you be coping with lifes ups and downs? If you already lost the weight and no longer needed to think about it, what goal would you be going for? The key here is not to concentrate on food but to concentrate on what it is you would like to be doing and achieving. As you go for your goals, the reasons you eat will be revealed to you. As an example, you will notice when you go for the candy bar instead of making the sales call or when you decide eating chips is a more immediate need than telling your spouse that when he does X, he makes you angry. There are other ways to deal with these emotions. The automatic habit of turning to food can be broken. We all need support in this process; if it were easy you would already have been doing it. Becoming aware of when and why you eat and what type of foods you go for is the beginning of taking your control back. You then need to look at what can replace the food. What you can do instead of eating to cope with the situation. You do not need to be foods victim. You can reclaim your life, your power and your energy. Using food to solve lifes problems did not happen overnight, so reversing this will be a process as well. It takes awareness, willingness and commitment. It also means you need a goal that is bigger than weight loss and food control. Looking at what you want to achieve, what will bring fulfillment and happiness to your life is your real goal. Start by making a contract with yourself and get support to stick to the contract. Commitment Contract I, ________________________________, hereby make known my intention to have the following life goals manifest. 1. _______________________________________________ 2. _______________________________________________ 3. _______________________________________________ 4. _______________________________________________ 5. _______________________________________________ The reason I want these things are: ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ To assist the world in creating this in my life, I agree to take the following actions: ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ I am free to change any item listed above, as I see fit and based on my ever growing and changing life experiences. Lessons From The Cockpit: Four Of The Worlds Top Pros Reveal Secrets For Scoring Double-Digits

By Vinnie LaSorsa Four pros reveal secrets for scoring double-digit releases! Southeast Florida is the sailfish capital of the world! There is simply no denying it. If you’re not convinced, consider this Some anglers fish a lifetime without ever landing a single sailfish. Many travel to foreign destinations like Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Panama where sailfish action is reportedly the best in the world. Granted, in these foreign destinations double-digit days are a common occurrence, but what about releasing over 400 sailfish in a single day? Is such a staggering number even possible? It is if you were fishing the recent Florida Yachts International Sailfish Kickoff, held right here in Miami in early December. The tournament posted what has to be an all time record. Sixty-five of the area’s top teams successfully released over 400 sailfish during the first day of competition alone. The fast and furious action set a precedent that will undoubtedly be hard to ever match. Tournament radioman and committee member Capt. Dan Kipnis explained, Release calls were coming in constantly with many at the same time. We didn’t even have time to take bathroom breaks. Day one of the prestigious event started with lines-in at 8:00 am and ended at 4:00 pm. After the astonishing numbers we’re finally tallied, on average, a sailfish was released every minute and ten seconds. The bite was so ‘red hot’, L&H, skippered by Capt. Neal Orange, Jr., even released a swordfish; a billfish species not typically caught during daylight hours or this close to shore. The day ended with Orange atop the leader board with a staggering 18 confirmed releases, a number comparable to the best days anywhere on the globe. Such incredible sailfish action doesn’t happen every day, but when ideal conditions all come together, and the fish are in the mood to cooperate, the bite can be monumental. To take full advantage of these and every opportunity, accomplished captains have fine tuned their approach for making the most of each and every outing. Let’s hear what the pros have to say. Their livelihood depends on their success! ______________________________________________________________________ Capt. Dean Panos Double D: Miami, FL. Location, Location, Location. –Off southeast Florida, the fishing kite certainly reigns supreme. While our fellow fishermen to the north prefer to troll rigged ballyhoo, and our angling buddies in the Florida Keys experience great success pitching pilchards to ‘tailing’ fish, here off of Miami a kite-fisherman will have the greatest opportunity to capitalize on red hot bites. You too can take full advantage of the super action as long as you come prepared, and you’re fishing the right place at the right time. –Hungry packs of aggressive sails are pushed down the coast as wintry cold fronts roll in to our north. Knowing exactly where the bulk of the fish may be located on any given day will be a major key to success. In the past few years, the area south of Fowey Light to Pacific Reef has been consistent during both January and February. Dependent on water quality, sails may also be plentiful from Haulover to Key Biscayne. –Fish sharp color changes in 80 ft. to 300 ft. and work both sides of the break. Although this early in the year, the majority of sails will be found roaming the cleaner, blue side. –Keep kite baits right on the surface and if the wind is up and the waves are cresting, keep a sharp lookout for sub-surface cruising fish heading your way. –Lastly, no matter how hard you try, you can’t catch ‘em standing on dry land. Get out there and give it your best shot - I’m sure the rewards will be worth the effort! ______________________________________________________________________ Capt. Cory Burlew Reaper: Pompano Beach, FL. Proper presentation! –Multiple release days are all about proper presentation and precise execution. The common goal is obviously scoring the greatest number of releases. To make that happen, the best guys understand the fish’s habits and cater their approach’s accordingly. –Sailfish encountered off northern Broward County are always on the move, unlike the numbers of fish which have taken up temporary residency off Stuart and the Florida Keys where huge concentrations of ballyhoo, sardines, and other baitfish are incredibly abundant. –Ideal conditions include a north to northwest wind. Stiff breezes generally force sails toward the surface; hence known as ‘tailing fish’. Northeast to southeast winds usually push sailfish deeper as they continue on their southerly migration. In other locales, these easterly winds may be best, but not here. Optimum conditions wouldn’t be complete without a strong northerly current which often brings with it a constant flow of fresh fish heading south, setting the stage for a banner day. –Fishing a 55 ft. Ocean, my most impressive release numbers have been accumulated through a combination of kite and rigger fishing. I hang two baits from a single kite, with two more high on the surface off outrigger clips. I finish things off with two goggle-eyes or blue runners deeper in the water column. With this approach, I can quickly find the exact depth and location of feeding fish. Plus, my maneuverability is increased with only a single kite in the air. I can chase down hooked fish quickly, resulting in healthier releases and more time with baits in the water. When everything comes together, release numbers add up quickly. –Fish different baits. Goggle-eyes, ballyhoo, and threadfins are local favorites, but don’t rule out tinker mackerel, runners and speedos. Fish the ballyhoo on the rigger rods right on the surface. As sailfish swim into the spread, any smart ballyhoo will leap-frog out of the water in an attempt to escape becoming lunch. The commotion usually entices already excited fish into an unstoppable charge. Remaining baits, depending on exactly how they’re rigged, are equally effective both on the surface and deeper in the water column. ______________________________________________________________________ Capt. V.J Bell Bone Shaker: Stuart FL. Drag Dredges! –For us guys up here, finding sailfish off the Treasure Coast is most often accomplished by trolling rigged baits with dredges loaded with natural or artificial mullet or ballyhoo. –The best hook baits are small ballyhoo rigged to swim with 1/8 oz. leads on 60 lb. leader material with either a 9175 Mustad or Eagle Claw EL 2004 circle hook. –Run offshore looking for ‘fishy’ water which can include distinct color changes, temperature breaks, birds, flying fish, and other forms of prevalent structure or suspended bait. Pay close attention to current and wind conditions, and keep additional baits in the water as long as possible when hooked up so you can turn singles into multiples. –Smooth drop backs with a patient retrieve and easy setting of the hook is the best way to make a solid connection. –Pay attention to your exact location at all times and thoroughly cover and re-cover productive water. Make smart moves and anticipate how the existing conditions will affect your presentation. An appealing trolling spread which encompasses multiple hook baits and a pair of teasers is dependent on a hard working mate. It takes a lot of effort to make sure everything is ‘right’. –Treasure Coast captains appreciate the effort and rewards of dead bait trolling, though clearly understand the importance of being ready for any situation. When the bulk of the sailfish are stacked south of St. Lucie Inlet, we’ll often switch to live bait. Like our buddies down the coast, we’ll fly a kite or two and drift appealing areas. Hook baits will be whatever we were able to net that morning. If the bait is lively and presented properly, regardless if it’s a herring, big sardine or runner, it will usually get slammed. ______________________________________________________________________ Capt. Vinnie LaSorsa Margaritavich: Palm Beach, FL. Small details make big differences! –Focus on temperature breaks. If you’re serious about sailfishing this season, you better hope your boat is equipped with a temperature gauge. Monitor it closely and look for variations when searching for an ideal stretch of potentially productive water. When you notice a change of at least a degree, there is a good chance sailfish won’t be far away. –Healthy baits are a must. Hardy, small to medium blue runners are my favorite and often much easier to come by than goggle-eyes which have skyrocketed in price. Use soft cloth bait nets instead of the stiff mono type. Soft nets do a much better job at protecting the bait’s fragile slime coating. –Bridle baits. Avoid injuring baits as much as possible. The small difference will make a big difference –Fish with high speed reels for your kite baits. Fast retrieve reels loaded with fresh line are perfect. The extra speed allows you to quickly crank the slack out of the line when a sailfish grabs one of your baits and pops the line out of clip. Come tight quickly to avoid potentially harming the fish with a damaging gut hook. –I am sure you’ve heard this fundamental before, but let me reiterate. Sailfish bite best with a fast moving northerly current. Once on scene, stop and keep a close eye on the latitude and longitude numbers on the GPS. Determine exactly which direction you’re drifting and how fast. Then reposition accordingly.
